Trá Pháidín to make World of Echo debut with new album, Cloch‘s Claí
Irish experimental folk collective Trá Pháidín have revealed plans for their new album, Cloch‘s Claí, and shared new single, "An Béal Bocht".
Cloch‘s Claí, which translates to "stone & wall", follows the outfit's 2024 debut album, An 424. Trá Pháidín expand beyond the sound of traditional Irish music to include jazz, folk and krautrock influences, with their approach focusing on original Gaelic music.
Today, they share "An Béal Bocht", the first preview of Cloch‘s Claí inspired by the 1941 novel An Béal Bocht by Myles na gCopaleen (aka Brian O’Nolan aka Flann O’Brien).
The album features ten tracks, each representing a stone in a metaphorical stone wall. On Cloch‘s Claí, Trá Pháidín offer a satirical take on the relationship between Ireland and the country's native tongue, with reference to the regions where Gaelic remains the primary language.
