Tove Lo covers Robyn's "Dancing On My Own"
Tove Lo has covered Robyn's 2010 hit "Dancing On My Own" as part of a performance for triple j's Like A Version series.
To coincide with the release of her fifth album Dirt Femme today (14 October), Tove Lo has honoured fellow Swedish pop legend Robyn with a cover of her 2010 hit "Dancing On My Own", which was recorded as part of triple j's Like A Version series.
Tove Lo said of the song, "I think it's just the most perfect pop song. Lyrically, it's so simple, so clear, you really picture - like you can really see it in front of you. I don't know, it just stayed with me all these years and still is such a good song, and makes me want to cry and dance at the same time, which is my favourite thing to do."
"I feel very nostalgic when I hear it even though I can't pinpoint when I heard it the first time," Tove Lo added. "I just remember that feeling of like, frustration and still hopefulness that's tied into the song somehow. The way that it's like pop, but so sincere and still with a lot of emotion, and she has a lot of integrity. She's just really badass and cool as well."
Dirt Femme follows Tove Lo's 2019 album Sunshine Kitty, and features collaborations with SG Lewis, First Aid Kit and Channel Tres.
Tove Lo's Dirt Femme album is out now via Pretty Swede Records / mtheory.
