total tommy tackles the disorientation of distance on new track, "Winona Forever"
Sydney singer-songwriter total tommy has released her new single, "Winona Forever".
"Winona Forever" follows previous comeback single "Pretty Little Mouth", and was written in the last four hours of total tommy's final day of writing in London. It follows the feeling of navigating distance and connection when living across different time zones, built on the transient experiences of her trip.
"There’s a picture of Winona Ryder that I’d seen where she’s on a bike outside a block of high rise buildings, and the imagery of that inspired me so much of how small we all are in the expanse of a city," total tommy says of the inspiration behind the song. "How it’s easy to lose your identity when you’re not surrounded by the people who really know you, and how we subconsciously shape shift to fit our environments."
"Winona Forever" is out now via Play It Again Sam
