Tommy WÁ drops new single, "There Goes My Youth"
Afro-folk singer-songwriter Tommy WÁ has released his second song this year, "There Goes My Youth".
"There Goes My Youth" follows "Alleluya (Another World)" released in May as his first new music since last year's EP Somewhere Only We Go, and his 2022 debut album, Roadman and Folks. The track is described as an "ode to unrequited love and associated regrets", though with a sense of hope underpinning the music.
Speaking about the song, Tommy WÁ explains: “This song came from an immensely intense season of being present with friends and certain members of my family as they navigated heartbreaks, relationship traumas, possible shame, unrequited love and associated regrets, whilst finding their way to their current self.
“Writing and recording this took me on an emotional rollercoaster as I attempted to place myself in the position they might have found themselves.”
"There Goes My Youth" is out now on Dirty Hit
