Tokyo noise artist Yuko Araki details new album, V
Yuko Araki has revealed plans for V, the sixth instalment in her numbered album series, and unveiled lead single, "Decoded Void".
V was written across an extensive tour of the UK, Europe, Indonesia, and China, building on the sound established with her earlier releases, IV and Zenjitsutan. The music is darker, with compositions that combine club music and post-industrial electronic textures.
“Decoded Void”, which grew from ideas Araki developed while supporting SUMAC in Tokyo in 2025, lands as the first preview of the upcoming collection of songs. The track also comes with a music video by longtime collaborator Jackson Kaki, whose dark 3DCG animation draws on references from Japanese art and literature.
"I have always been interested in the idea that noise can become more musical," Araki says. "With V, I feel I've pushed this tension between noise and structure further than before. I think of it as a noise album, but I'm interested to see how different listeners interpret and experience it."
Araki will play two shows in Tokyo this autumn, at UFO Club on 31 October and Forestlimit on 13 November. In spring 2027, she'll head to the UK and Europe for a run of live dates, including stops in Bristol, Newcastle, Liverpool, London, Birmingham, Geneva, Paris and Brussels.
