
Thundercat remodels Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Thousand Knives" for new tribute album
To celebrate Ryuichi Sakamoto's 70th birthday, a new tribute album titled A Tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto - To the Moon and Back has been announced, and Thundercat's remodel of "Thousand Knives" is the first outing.
Thundercat's version of "Thousand Knives" is the first outing from A Tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto - To the Moon and Back, which will feature 12 other remodels of tracks across Sakamoto's career. "Thousand Knives" is the title-track of Sakamoto’s 1978 debut album Thousand Knives.
A Tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto - To the Moon and Back is a celebration of Sakamoto's 70th birthday, and will feature other remodels by Devonté Hynes, Hildur Guðnadóttir, The Cinematic Orchestra and more.
News of the Sakamoto tribute album comes after Sakamoto shared a preview of his score for a new Netflix anime series titled Exception that's due to arrive next week.

Thundercat's remodel of "Thousand Knives" is out now. A Tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto - To the Moon and Back will be released on 2 December via Milan Records, and is available to pre-order now.
