“This record says things how they are": La Roux to return with new album, Old Flames
La Roux has announced her upcoming fourth album, Old Flames, and shared new single "Cabin Fever".
Old Flames is La Roux's first new full-length album in six years, following her 2020 album Supervision, with 90s-inspired pop track "Cabin Fever" arriving as the first preview of the collection of songs. Discussing the track, La Roux explains: “‘Cabin Fever’ is about where I was: stuck in my head and lost, having to be brutally honest about it in order to escape.”
Old Flames was written, composed, produced, and arranged by La Roux, with the songs addressing the breakdown of a seventeen-year relationship, addiction, and dealing with identity and sexuality while in the public eye.
Speaking about the concept behind the album, La Roux explains: “This record says things how they are: how I am and who I am. It’s been a process of admitting what I got wrong through telling these tales and coming to terms with where I am now. Old Flames is essentially me processing why I've behaved the way that I have and saying goodbye to it. It's a farewell to that way of behaving in love and life. And in music too.”
