The National and Lauren Mayberry join forces for Tiny Changes fundraiser, 'The Tiny But Mighty Appeal’
The National and Lauren Mayberry back Tiny Changes fundraiser, ‘The Tiny But Mighty Appeal’, in support of youth mental health.
On World Mental Health Day (10 October), Tiny Changes — Scotland's first national young people's mental health charity — has launched its biggest-ever fundraising campaign, 'The Tiny But Mighty Appeal'. Backed by artists including American rock band The National and CHVRCHES vocalist Lauren Mayberry, the appeal seeks to raise over one million pounds by the end of 2026 to invest in supporting the mental health of children and young people.
Tiny Changes was originally founded in memory of Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison, who took his life in 2018. Tiny Changes has spent the past six years empowering young people to take charge of their mental health through creativity, community, and co-production. The Tiny But Mighty Appeal comes at a critical moment for small charities navigating an increasingly harsh funding landscape — one where sustained investment is vital for nurturing young leaders and expanding early intervention projects.
As close collaborators with Frightened Rabbit — with guitarist Aaron Dessner having produced Frightened Rabbit's final album Painting of a Panic Attack in 2016 — The National have remained long-time supporters of the charity throughout its six-year journey. Now, as part of 'The Tiny But Mighty Appeal', the band has collaborated with Evan Cohen and Tiny Changes to release a collection of limited-edition merchandise, including exclusive t-shirts and hoodies, with all proceeds from sales going towards the fundraiser. The new line of merchandise is available to pre-order now.
