The Morning After: Karin Park's album launch
Last night, neo-gothic Swedish songstress Karin Park played an intimate show at The Scotch in West London to celebrate the launch of her new album, Highwire Poetry. After a rocky start to the gig (the electricity kept cutting out), Park found her footing, and delivered a commanding performance marked by trembling but captivating vocals.
Thanks to the electrical issues, the crowd was treated to both acoustic and full versions of ‘Restless’ – a pulsating epic with a subtly infectious chorus. Another standout was ‘Fryngies.’ Here’s to hoping we see much more of Ms. Park in the coming months; both her music and performance succeed at being atmospheric without being suffocating.
