GEoRGiA plays debut live show at The Waiting Room
Recently signed by Kaya Kaya Records, 24 year old producer and vocalist GEoRGiA has already played as a session drummer for Kwes, JUCE and Kate Tempest. Last night, a fortnight on from the release of Come In, her debut solo EP, GEoRGiA took to the stage in her own right and brought her industrial electronic pop to London’s Waiting Room.
In order to recreate the experimental beat-laden sound produced in her home studio, GEoRGiA is joined live by a drummer and two synth players, who provide backing on vocals and bass respectively. Deftly pressing buttons and turning dials on a vocal pitch-shifter as she sings, GEoRGiA bears out comparisons to Tirzah and Arca drawn following the release of Come In.
The succinct five song set comprises the four tracks released on the EP as well as a new song, “GMTL”, which sees GEoRGiA play dissonant bass alongside mirror-like vocals. Backed by syncopated drums and an apocalyptic plunging synth motif, “Digits” closes the night on the atmospheric note that pervades GEoRGiA’s forward-looking music.
GEoRGiA’s will play the second in her two show residency at The Waiting Room on Tuesday 12th August.
