The Last Dinner Party release long-awaited studio version of fan-favourite song "Big Dog"
The Last Dinner Party have released a new single, a studio version of "Big Dog", which has been a live favourite since before their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy.
The London-formed band, who released their second album From The Pyre last year, have shared the new single alongside a spoken word piece titled "Come All You Beasts", which they regularly recite before performing the track live. "Big Dog" is co-produced by the band – their first production credit to date – alongside Animesh Raval.
Fans have been quick to remind the band that the song’s studio release was long overdue. Explaining the accompanying poem, bassist Georgia Davies said: “'Come All You Beasts' was written as a way to introduce the folkloric and storytelling elements of From the Pyre to ‘Big Dog’. The themes of the song were interpolated with Bible verses, subverting prescriptive messages about women’s safety.”
The release lands while the group are midway through a US headline run that runs to mid-June. They will return to the UK for shows including Isle of Wight Festival, TRNSMT, Latitude, a support slot for Wolf Alice at Finsbury Park, and their first festival headline appearance at Wilderness. European summer festival dates are also scheduled.
Last week, The Last Dinner Party were announced as support for Olivia Rodrigo on her “Unravelled Tour” in Los Angeles and New York in January and February 2027. All eight dates have already sold out. The band previously supported Rodrigo at her BST Hyde Park show in June 2025.
In October, they will return to the US for a 14-date support run with Sombr. Beyond live work, the band’s Ribbons for Provisions project has been active throughout their current US tour, supporting local food banks in each city. They recently raised nearly £50,000 for the initiative in the UK and Europe, and over $40,000 in the US.
