The Klittens share new single "Taxi" ahead of debut album
Amsterdam five-piece The Klittens have shared a new single, “Taxi”, before their self-released debut record, Have A Heart, arrives in September. The music video features hidden-camera footage of Dutch wildlife.
“Taxi” is about drifting back into patterns that have long since stopped meaning anything. The accompanying video, assembled using footage from the Dutch Bird Protection Society’s surveillance cameras, captures everything from nest-building to a fledgling’s first flight, giving the track a documentary intimacy.
Have A Heart pulls from country, pop, and post-punk, shaping those influences through the band’s five voices and four instruments. Across its thirteen tracks, the record picks at feelings of powerlessness and the small ways we push back. Each song functions as its own lyrical vignette; the band describe it as an album that “paints a heavy picture with pastels”.
The group is comprised of Yaël Dekker (vocals), Winnie Conradi (guitar), Katja Kahana (guitar), Marrit Meinema (bass), and Laurie Zantinge (drums). They began as a creative and political outlet and have held onto a staunch DIY ethos ever since. They write, record, release, and book their own shows, and also put on the annual Klitfest in the Netherlands. Their previous EPs, Citrus (2022) and Butter (2024), earned them slots alongside Otoboke Beaver and BODEGA, and cemented their place in a Dutch indie surge that includes Personal Trainer, Real Farmer, and Pip Blom.
The Klittens will tour the UK this autumn, with dates running from 24 October through to 2 November. The run includes an as-yet-unannounced Edinburgh show on 24 October, Nice N Sleazy in Glasgow (25 October), Central Bar in Gateshead (26 October), Fulford Arms in York (29 October), Wharf Chambers in Leeds (30 October), JT Soar Fest in Nottingham (31 October), Just Dropped In in Coventry (1 November) and a London date at The George Tavern on 2 November.
