The Golden Dregs announce album of reworked tracks, In The Company of Strangers; 2015-2025 Revisited

In The Company of Strangers; 2015-2025 Revisited is an album of reworks and stripped back revisions from tracks across their catalogue. "Linoleum" is a track that was first released on this year’s Godspeed album. This new reinterpretation features Sophie Jamieson who will also join The Golden Dregs and Lichen on an upcoming UK tour next month.

“Despite it being the most anthemic of all of The Golden Dreg’s back catalog, ‘Linoleum’ has always felt fragile to me, and Sophie’s voice carries that same fragility in a way that makes the song feel both more vulnerable and more certain. It’s one of the most direct collaborations on the record, and I think you can hear us leaning into each other. The lyrics were always a conversation to me, two people on the run. Sophie has really brought the character to life here,” explains the London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Ben Woods.

“These songs have lived in one form or another for the past decade, but I wanted to hear what happens when you strip them right back, when the words are left exposed. I’ve Invited other artists associated with Joy of Life International into the process, their contributions arriving almost like interruptions from the outside world which pulls the songs into unexpected directions, emphasising different melodies or turning a lyric that was once an internal monologue into a conversation,” he continues.

Appearing on this new collection is US based alt-country singer Othis, UK based, Canadian singer-songwriter Dana Gavanski as well as members of The Golden Dregs, Michel Clark (Lichen), Ted Mair (Sculpture Park), Davy Roderick (Vogues) and Issie Armstrong.
