Team Dresch announce first new album in 30 years, Furthermore

To accompany the announcement, the band have shared lead single "One Song", complete with a music video starring singer/bassist Jody Bleyle's daughter.

The band describe "One Song" as a love letter to their younger selves. "It's a song of hope and power for all the young queers who are dragged into the struggle," they explain. "It's also a song for the elders who have built defences from years of working and caretaking and being pounded by life."

The chorus references Maurice Sendak's banned book In the Night Kitchen. "Young people are not only told that they're in a nightmare, they're told that they are the nightmare," the band state. "But actually, our queerness is a dreamland full of feral, playful joy."

Furthermore arrives following the band's 30th anniversary shows for their debut Personal Best last year, which drew a cross-generational audience of original fans and younger listeners. The new record sees the band operating as a five-piece, featuring both drummers Marcéo Martinez and Melissa York in the line-up.

Formed in Portland in 1993, Team Dresch emerged during the Pacific Northwest's early '90s alternative scene, with members connected to Screaming Trees, Dinosaur Jr, and Sub Pop's Hazel. Their influence has endured beyond their active years, with Personal Best recently named among Rolling Stone's Greatest Punk Albums of All Time.

The band will play a one-off UK headline show at The Lexington in London on 30 September, as part of a wider European run.
