Taylor Swift's Midnights becomes UK's fastest-selling album of 2022
It's been revealed that Taylor Swift's Midnights album is the UK's fastest-selling album of 2022, having gained 204,000 chart sales in just one week.
Last Friday (28 October) Midnights reached Number One on the UK Official Albums Chart, and the lead single from the record, "Anti-Hero", also topped the UK Official Singles Chart, making her the first female artist to debut at the top of both charts simultaneously since Miley Cyrus in 2013.
The album also broke another record by becoming the fastest-selling album of 2022 in the UK, having gained 204,000 chart sales in just one week. This is more than double the sales of her previous biggest opening week (90,300), which was with 1989 in 2014.
Swift's Midnights was also certified gold in the UK after just two days, and achieved the biggest first week vinyl sales since modern chart records began in 1994.
On top of that, Swift's tenth album also set an all-time Official Chart record by achieving nine Number One UK albums in the fastest time by any female artist, overtaking Madonna.
In the first day of release, Midnights broke two Spotify records, including being the most-streamed album in a single day, as well as the most-streamed artist in a single day.
