Tanner York announces reissue of debut album Welcome to the Shower on Merge Records
North Carolina power pop artist Tanner York has announced his signing to Merge Records, the reissue of his first album Welcome to the Shower, and shared previously unreleased single “Dumbest Person Alive”.
Welcome to the Shower was first released last year, and Merge will be reissuing the album on CD and limited-edition opaque “Baby Bloo” Peak Vinyl. The announcement also lands with new single “Dumbest Person Alive”, which will be featured on the reissue.
Speaking about Welcome to the Shower, which is the result of York being “pretty obsessed with recording the perfect pop song”, he says: ”I don’t know if I achieved that anywhere on here, but this crop of bite-sized songs has remained very near and dear to my heart. Most of the music I was listening to at the time was home-recorded in a very obvious and proud way. I loved the idea of basking in the limitations, and I became infatuated with small-sounding music.”
