Syd announces third solo LP Beard with single “Callin” and UK tour dates
Syd has confirmed details of her third solo album, Beard, alongside the new single “Callin” featuring Blu June. The record will arrive on 17 July and marks her first full-length collection in four years.
“Beard is a coming of age album for me. It’s a snapshot of what my life looks like right now,” Syd said in a press statement. “The title was inspired by the peach fuzz on my upper lip that society has always taught me to hate. I fell in love with my peach fuzz and it made me rethink everything that was supposed to make me feel insecure. It allowed me to take my confidence into my own hands, and own everything that I am and everything I love about myself, regardless of what anyone else thinks. The title also represents the way I see myself in relation to my peers, especially in music. ‘The bearded lady.’ Not so much a spectacle in my case, but an anomaly and an outlier. Hard to compare. I’m owning that too. Taking things that were once insecurities and flipping them on their head has been extremely empowering.”
Lead single “Callin” follows last year’s standalone singles “Die For This” and “GMFU”, both of which hinted at the direction Beard would take after a run of high-profile collaborations, including a GRAMMY win for co-writing Beyoncé’s “Plastic Off the Sofa” from Renaissance.
The live dates behind the new record will take Syd to cities including London, Paris, and Amsterdam. Artist pre-sale opens on 3 June at 10am local time, with Spotify and local pre-sales following on 4 June. General sale begins on 5 June at 10am local time.
Since her early days as part of Odd Future and as a co-founder of The Internet, Syd has been both a centre-stage artist and behind the boards, writing, producing, and engineering her own material. Her discography spans multiple albums with The Internet, including the 10th-anniversary celebration of Ego Death last year, plus solo work and writing credits for acts such as Zayn, Lil Uzi Vert, Kehlani, Disclosure and Kelly Rowland. In 2025 she joined Billie Eilish on a summer UK tour and supported Renee Rapp across the US.
