Swapmeet reveal details of upcoming debut album, Mount Zero
Australian indie rock band Swapmeet have announced their debut album, Mount Zero, and shared their new single, "Sand".
Formed by Venus O’Broin (guitar, vocals), Joshua Doherty (bass), Maxwell Elphick (guitar, drums, vocals), and Jack Medlyn (guitar, drums, vocals), the band first got their start as teenagers before releasing their debut EP, Oxalis, in 2024. "Sand" arrives as the second preview of their first full-length release, and is accompanied by a music video directed by David Milan Kelly.
Speaking about the song, Medlyn says: “‘Sand’ is about wasting your own time, then being so, so mad at yourself. And a little bit mad at the people who make apps and phones so addictive.”
Mount Zero sees Swapmeet capture the feeling of changing under pressure, combining alt-rock with 90s slowcore. With the production duties shared across each member, they refined the album's sound as a collective as they addressed themes of first loves, first heartbreaks, first embarrassments, and first disasters — chronicling the experience of young adulthood.
