Sunn O))) announce new self-titled album

13 January 2026, 14:00 | Written by Kayla Sandiford

Sunn O))) have revealed that they are set to release a new self-titled album, and shared closing track "Glory Black".

Sunn O))) announced their signing to Sub Pop last October, alongside the release of three tracks, Eternity’s Pillars b/w Raise the Chalice & Reverential, both digitally and on 12" vinyl. sunn O))) is the first full-length album on Sub Pop from the drone metal duo, with closing track "Glory Black" being the first single from the new record.

The album was recorded at Bear Creek Studios in Washington with producer Brad Wood. Of the process, Sunn O))) co-founder Stephen O’Malley says: “The vast tracking room had big windows looking out on trees,” says O’Malley. “We could go hiking and be out in the woods, spend time outdoors. That became a big part of it.”

Although Sunn O))) have previously welcomed collaborators, the instrumentation was performed entirely by O’Malley and Greg Anderson. “What’s been happening with our performances over the last couple years with the two of us and no other collaborators has been really fresh and exciting,” Anderson comments.
