Summer Walker reacts to Grammy's snub: "I feel like I got played"
The 65th annual Grammy Awards took place in February earlier this year. Summer Walker reacts to not picking up any nominations.
In an interview on the Caresha Please podcast, Walker discusses not being nominated for a Grammy Award. "Honestly, both albums, Over It and Still Over It, really did the numbers. I don’t know, I feel like I got played. The numbers was there, the fans was there. When I pop out for a show; sold out every time.”
Despite Walker feeling as though she was slighted, fans in the comments have been quick to point out that a Grammy doesn't equate to success, with one user saying: "I think artists and people in general give way too much power to the Grammys when in reality it is just a trophy", whilst another noted: "Why do celebs continue to groan over some validation from the Grammy’s? Have we not established they are the fakest award show".
Her 2021 album, Still Over It, featured collaborations with the likes of Ciara, Pharrell Williams and The Neptunes, Cardi B, and SZA, whilst Drake, Usher, and Jhené Aiko were among the collaborations on 2019's Over It.
“I don’t fucking know why they played me… I do know why but I ain’t gonna go into it… But it’s OK… the love is there and the money is there. So it’s good.” https://t.co/XrWsdIWW2m
