Legendary producer, studio engineer and musician Steve Albini has died of a heart attack at the age of 61.
As well as fronting bands such as Shellac and Big Black, Albini was notable for his work on legendary albums such as Nirvana’s In Utero, Pod by The Breeders, Pixies’ Surfer Rosa, Rid of Me by PJ Harvey, Things We Lost in the Fire by Low, and many more.
As reported by Pitchfork, staff at his recording studio Electric Audio have confirmed that Albini has died of a heart attack. His band Shellac are set to release To All Trains next week, and they were preparing to tour for the first time in a decade.
