Starcleaner Reunion announce debut album, Umbrella

Vocalist and tambourine player Jo Roman, guitarists Pat Drummond and Neil Torman, and bassist Adam Kenter formed Starcleaner Reunion back in 2022, and hit the ground running to release their first EP Club Estrella in 2023, followed by Café Life in 2024. Today, they preview their first-ever full-length release with "Never Even Or Odd".

Speaking about the single, the band explain: "'Never Odd or Even’ is about the anticipation of sharing secrets. Some of them can be entertaining while others could reveal dark things. This song explores the experience of a personal secret leaving that protective space in someone's mind. The push and pull dynamic of the music, bouncing between propulsive motorik rush and 5/4 waltz, mimics that trajectory between that excitement and unimaginable darkness. "

Umbrella was pieced together last summer following the band's biggest tour to date off the back of their second EP, which also saw them play shows with the likes of This Is Lorelei, Friko, and TOPS. Expanding on their retro-futurist pop sound, they invited friends to contribute to. the songs, which feature touches of clarinet, horns, and violin, with Model/Actriz's Ruben Radlauer on mixing duties.
