Stand Atlantic announce fifth album GODBREATH, share new single “LUCID”
Australian pop punk band Stand Atlantic have confirmed details of their fifth studio album, GODBREATH, set for release on 23 October via Virgin Music Group. The news arrives alongside a new single, “LUCID”, and an accompanying VHS-styled video filmed at Sydney’s Lord Gladstone hotel.
“LUCID” arrived late in the writing process, when vocalist and songwriter Bonnie Fraser had stopped trying to force the issue. “This was a hard track to figure out,” she said. “‘LUCID’ was one of the last songs we wrote for this record and I was kind of done. I felt like I was running out of things to say that wouldn’t feel super contrived. So I went plain and simple, I thought ‘I’m not going to overthink this, let’s go with what self-sabotage feels like’, and explored that lyrically.”
The new track follows earlier teaser “Velcro”, the band’s first self-described love song, which opened a more melodic chapter ahead of their UK and European run on Slam Dunk Festival alongside Good Charlotte, Knocked Loose and Sublime. Both singles feed into a full-length that Fraser and company tracked live in the studio, pulling from turn-of-the-century pop rock vibrancy and bouncy modern pop punk. The result, according to the band, is a body of work that pushes into uncharted territory without sacrificing the instincts that built their following.
Since forming in Sydney in 2012, Stand Atlantic have grown into one of Australia’s busiest alternative exports, having released four studio records: Skinny Dipping (2018), Pink Elephant (2020), f.e.a.r. (2022) and WAS HERE (2024). They have notched an ARIA Platinum single with “deathwish”. And their triple j Like A Version cover of Juice WRLD’s “Righteous” remains a standout in the station’s recent catalogue.
On the live front, the band have sold out headline tours across Australia, the UK, Europe and North America, and shared stages with Sum 41, A Day To Remember, I Prevail and ONE OK ROCK. This autumn’s plans include a UK arena run supporting Simple Plan, with dates at Manchester’s O2 Apollo on 2 October and London’s OVO Arena Wembley on 3 October, plus slots at Vans Warped Tour in the US.
