Spotify launches Audiobook editions of cult-favorite 33⅓ series
Spotify Audiobooks has just dropped 51 titles from Bloomsbury’s 33⅓ series, making the album-focused books available in audio format for the first time.
The launch marks the first time most of the 33⅓ titles are available as audiobooks, introducing the series to a new generation of listeners with Spotify-exclusive features like editor commentary and real-time music integration.
For the first time, many of the titles are available in audiobook format, with Spotify bringing its platform features to the listening experience. Select editions include commentary from Spotify music editors via videos, and a new Follow Along function that allows listeners hear the music as it’s discussed in real time.
Highlighted titles with editor commentary include To Pimp a Butterfly (Kendrick Lamar), Blackout (Britney Spears), and Metallica (Metallica), while other Follow-Along editions cover albums by Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, and Janelle Monáe.
Spotify says this launch is part of a broader initiative to expand how fans engage with music storytelling, with more audiobook projects to come.
