For Bandcamp Friday, Spanish indie rock band Pumuky have reissued their No sueltes lo efímero album and invite fans to pay-what-you-want in an effort to combat the vinyl pricing bubble.
Announced yesterday on the band's Instagram account, before being picked up by r/indieheads, the deal is only available during Bandcamp Friday, 1st May, and aims to combat yet another vinyl pricing bubble that has exploded over the last few years.
Fans will be able to pay a minimum of €0.50, plus shipping costs, for the reissued version of No sueltes lo efímero, which had been out of print. Orders will be shipped 22 June.
"We don't know if this has been done before, yes, we're pretty scared to do it, but we want to trust you," the band wrote. They also encouraged fans who own the original pressing to consider forgoing this deal.
Pumuky was formed by brothers Jaír and Noé Ramírez, originally from Icod de los Vinos, a small town in the north of Tenerife. Their first album was released in 2005.
Some details we'd like to share with you if you decide to participate in this action:
Only during the #BandcampFriday May 1st.
To avoid possible speculators, we will limit the purchase to 1 copy of "Don't drop the ephemeral" per order per person; there is no problem if you add other discs from the catalogue.
We will cancel and refund orders where we detect sabotage attempts (fake data, etc.) ), or include several copies of this reissue.
If you already have the 1. a edition of "Don't let go of the ephemeral", on green vinyl or black consider that you really don't need this reissue on blue vinyl: it's the same disc (unless you want to give it to someone).
This Friday we'll play half of the release (150 vinyls); the rest we'll reserve it for the following days (in case anyone finds out late), friendly record stores who have requested it, or upcoming shows to be announced.
Please write to us if you want to make us a particular request (dedicated, in which area of the LP, etc.) ), or if you have any other inquiries about it.”
