Sofi Paez and Lara Somogyi join forces on new song, "Pond"
Berlin-based Costa Rican pianist Sofi Paez and Los Angeles-based harpist Lara Somogyi have released their new collaborative track, "Pond".
Paez wrote "Pond" on a late summer night in the studio. It was initially just piano and vocals, but when she invited Somogyi to play on the track, it took greater shape. "The first time I heard her play on it, I knew that this was it," Paez says of the collaboration. "It brought a completely different life to the song."
"It was a true gift and honour to be invited to contribute to Sofi's beautiful piece," Somogyi adds. "The first time I heard it, I was immediately transported into its world - somewhere spacious, serene, and deeply introspective. As I played, I found myself letting the harp flow naturally to gently support and weave through the peaceful sonic landscape Sofi had created, to sit alongside her beautiful voice and lush piano with delicate textures and quiet gestures that could breathe or dance naturally within the music."
