
First trailer for absolute feral looking Paul Banks-soundtracked movie Sister Midnight drops
The first trailer has been released for Sister Midnight, the debut feature from London based Indian artist and filmmaker Karan Kandhari, which features a soundtrack by Interpol's Paul Banks.
Sister Midnight tells the story of rebellious small-town misfit Uma – played by acclaimed Indian actress Radhika Apte – who arrives in Mumbai to find herself totally unsuited to life as a housewife. At odds with her prying neighbors and under the constant oppressive noise and heat of the city, she decides to break free from the shackles of domesticity and follow her own path.
Kandhari is a veteran music video director – with work for Franz Ferdinand and The Vaccines under his belt while the film marks Paul Banks' debut as composer and has some choice needle drops from Howling Wolf, Buddy Holly, The Band, Motorhead, T. Rex, Blind Willie Johnson, and The Stooges from whom the title is is lifted.
Sister Midnight premiered at Cannes’ Directors Fortnight and also won the award for Best Film in the Next Wave section at Fantastic Fest.
Sister Midnight is released in the UK and Ireland on 14 March 2025
