sim0ne mines 90s UK rave on debut EP zer0, shares “in ya mind” single
Edinburgh-born, London-based DJ, producer, and vocalist sim0ne has announced her debut EP zer0, set for release on 26 June via Odd Numbers. The news arrives alongside a new single, “in ya mind”, which leans into her breakbeat rave style.
The track has what sim0ne describes as “a rumbling warehouse kick”. “This track plays with the juxtaposition of hard and soft with little grey area in the middle,” she explains. “I wanted ‘in ya mind’ to feel dreamy, melancholic and otherworldly in the verses while the drop is techno focused… The track weaves in a breakbeat which ties it to its inspiration in 90s UK rave culture alongside the melodic reference to Olive’s 1996 track ‘You’re Not Alone’.”
The EP draws from hard house, techno, trance, makina, and rave-inspired pop, melding the sounds that shaped generations of British club music. Previous singles “space cadet” and “freaky” already established that approach.
Since 2023, sim0ne has moved through the UK and European club circuit, holding a Rinse FM residency and selling out her self-run club zer0 nights. She has played Fabric, Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Boiler Room Ibiza and Terminal V, and recently performed at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. Her official remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Say Yes To Heaven” also arrived last year, broadening her reach beyond the underground.
Upcoming live dates include Chicago’s Smoke & Mirrors on 13 June, Italy’s DEN Music Festival on 20 June, Hideout Festival in Croatia on 2 July, and Tomorrowland in Belgium on 17 July.
