Minneapolis indie rock band she's green have released an epic seven-minute single ahead of their forthcoming swallowtail EP and UK/EU headline run this summer.

Vocalist Zofia Smith says the lyrics came from an encounter with a recurring figure in her sleep. “‘close your eyes’ is about a mystery person who kept reoccurring in my dreams. In those dreams, we shared a life together by the ocean. Waking up and realising they weren’t real left a lasting impression on me, leaving me wondering about our connection to our dreams, how my mind could have created this person, or if I knew them in a past life.” A music video directed by Jaxon Whittington accompanies the track.

The single is the latest preview of swallowtail, the band’s first release to be made with producer and mixer Sonny DiPerri (DIIV, julie). Earlier singles “mettle”, “paper thin”, and “empty house” also appear on the record, all recorded after the group had already built a following through two self-produced EPs, wisteria and chrysalis.

The band formed around the University of Minnesota, where vocalist Zofia Smith and guitarist Liam Armstrong lived as roommates. Both had separate musical projects before Smith began writing lyrics over Armstrong’s demos, and the group expanded to a quintet with the addition of guitarist Raines Lucas, bassist Teddy Nordvold, and drummer Kevin Seebeck. Early word-of-mouth momentum came from basement shows as part of the city’s robust DIY scene.

This summer’s touring schedule marks the band’s first headline run through the UK and Europe. It begins on 27 August at the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes and includes appearances at Reading and Leeds festivals, along with stops in Bristol, Manchester, Brighton, London, Paris, Brussels, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Berlin, and Cologne.
