Sarah Julia detail debut album, The Fear That This is Real
Amsterdam-based sister folk duo Sarah Julia have announced their debut album, The Fear That This is Real, and shared new single, "Conversation".
The Fear That This is Real follows the pair's 2024 debut EP How Do We Go Back to Being Normal?. "Conversation" is the second preview of the upcoming collection of songs, arriving after "Bigger Picture" released in February.
The Fear That This is Real was recorded live over the course of six days in autumn 2025, with producer Phil Weinrobe (Big Thief, Adrienne Lenker, Sam Evian, Florist) on production duties. The final work sees the pair pool their shared experiences of uncertainty, vulnerability, and emotional honesty, taking musical inspiration from ‘70s songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Judee Sill.
Speaking about the purpose of writing about shared experiences for the album, Sarah explains: “That would mean that we would both feel it, and we want to make sure that we both feel equal in this project. Before writing the songs for this album, we knew it would be more of our own worlds.”
