Sam Mendes is working on four individual biopics on The Beatles
Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes has been given full rights to the band’s life stories and music in order to create the four movies which are scheduled for release in 2027.
Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall, and 1917) came up with the idea for the project, and is set to direct four movies, one from each band member’s point of view. the families of John Lennon and George Harrison, alongside Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, have authorised the films and will grant Mendes full access to anything he needs from their history.
“I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes said in a statement. The announcement teased that the films would be released in an “innovative and groundbreaking” manner, but did not offer details.
4 separate biopic films are in the works about each member of The Beatles to all release in theaters in 2027.
