Saint Jude unveils "Missing June" as his only release of the year
Saint Jude, AKA South London songwriter-producer Jude Woodhead, shares "Missing June" ahead of his only performance of the summer at End of the Road Festival.
"Missing June", which is to be Jude’s only release of 2023, comes in a just over two minutes, and features Low Loudly (Drug Store Romeos’ singer Sarah Downie) on guest vocals.
A very different version of "Missing June" was going to be on Jude’s debut album, Signal, before it was omitted and re-written in January as a retrospective piece on the year that had just passed.
“I want "Missing June" to have different meanings for whoever is listening,” Jude comments on the track. “But, for me, I was writing as a means of finding meaning from things that happened to me last year.”
Saint Jude’s debut album, Signal, was released at the tail-end of 2022, featuring guest appearances from Louis Culture and Delaware rapper Zeke Ultra among a host of burgeoning talent from South London’s alternative scene.
After a budding DJ career was cut short with debilitating tinnitus (a condition severely underdiscussed within his age bracket), Jude turned to more traditional songwriting techniques to express himself; informed by the scenes that soundtrack his native South London.
"Missing June" is out now. Saint Jude is set to perform at this year's End of the Road Festival which takes place at Larmer Tree Gardens from 31 August - 3 September.
