Saint Etienne announce final album, International
Saint Etienne will release their 13th and final album, International, on 5 September, via Heavenly Recordings, bringing a 35-year recording career to a close.
The first single, "Glad", is out now. Co-written and produced with Tom Rowlands of the Chemical Brothers and featuring Jez Williams of Doves, the band says they are not splitting up but are drawing a line under new recordings after the past three and a half decades together.
“We fell in love with it straight away,” said Sarah Cracknell. “The top line melody and words for ‘Glad' came easy.” Pete Wiggs added, “The song is about taking pleasure in everyday things like nature and the outdoors when life is otherwise getting you down."
The album features collaborations with Vince Clarke, Erol Alkan, Janet Planet, Paul Hartnoll, and others. A farewell track, "The Last Time", closes out the record.
The band began releasing music in 1990 and has worked across film and books in addition to recording. International will be released in multiple physical formats, including limited editions and retailer exclusives.
