RY-GUY announces new EP, like a river
South London artist RY-GUY has announced his upcoming EP, like a river, and released lead single, "Dunja".
Born in London, with roots in Guyana and Barbados, RY-GUY's music is influenced by Caribbean soundsystem culture, and sees him incorporate elements of soul, psychedelic, and art pop. like a river follows his 2023 debut EP As The Light Leaks, with "Dunja" arriving as the first preview of the upcoming work.
Speaking on the new track, RY-GUY describes it as: “A powerful anthem for ethnic women navigating the challenges of a Western world, this song speaks to their resilience in overcoming male oppression, violence, and the patriarchy. It’s a celebration of strength, defiance, and the pursuit of freedom in the face of adversity.”
