Romy (The xx) shares new single "Enjoy Your Life"
Romy's new single "Enjoy Your Life" has been premiered as Clara Amfo's Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1.
“Enjoy Your Life” follows last year’s “Strong" and was produced by Fred Again.. – who featured Romy on "Lights Out" – as well as Stuart Price, and Jamie xx. The track features a sample of “La Vita” by Beverly Glenn-Copeland, as well as a sample of Oby Onyioha's "Enjoy Your Life".
Robyn took Romy to see Beverly Glenn-Copeland perform in Stockholm, and although the whole performance blew her away, one line of one track in particular stopped Romy in her tracks. In an Instagram post, Romy reveals the impact that it had on her: "When I heard the line, “My mother says to me enjoy your life” by Beverly Glenn-Copeland, I was speechless. Those few words felt like the most simple and disarming sentence.
"It resonated especially deeply as it is because of my mum passing away when I was 11, that this perspective on living life was even a part of me," she continues.
She has also shared a music video, directed by her wife, filmmaker and photographer Vic Lentaigne which features intimate fly-on-the-wall moments with Romy alongside footage of Romy’s
mother.
