Robyn marks 20 years of self-titled album with vinyl reissue
Robyn will reissue her self-titled album for its 20th anniversary in a 2xLP on coke bottle-clear vinyl
First released through her own Konichiwa Records imprint, Robyn marked a transition in the artist’s career toward a more independent model of pop music. The album features the singles “Be Mine!,” “Handle Me,” “Crash and Burn Girl,” and “With Every Heartbeat."
The release received widespread media coverage upon its original release and played a central role in expanding Robyn’s international profile. The album introduced a production style and release strategy that would become more common among independent and major-label pop artists in the years that followed.
The reissue – which will feature the same artwork used for the album’s limited Record Store Day release in 2005 – arrives amid a series of new activities from Robyn, including her recent remix of Charli XCX’s “360” with Yung Lean, her collaboration with Jamie xx on “Life”, and a performance with David Byrne as part of Saturday Night Live 50.
The 2xLP anniversary edition of Robyn is released on 12 September via UMR/Island Records.
