"An outpouring of the subconscious": Rian Brazil readies new EP Engine Heartbreak, releases two new tracks
London-based pop innovator Rian Brazil has detailed a new EP, Engine Heartbreak, and released two tracks from it: “a butterfly was born” and “things 2 make u smile”.
The eight-track collection will be released by Black Butter Records (Dove Ellis, KING BOOO!) and follows Brazil's 2025 EP People like u.
Born in Brighton and now based in London, Brazil says the EP was crafted mostly through “reactivity and intuition”, describing it as an outpouring of his subconscious, with insecurities, emotions, and a hyperactive range of musical references spilling into the songs.
The two new tracks arrive after his first offerings of 2026, “high me raise” and “bullet caught in a spiders web”, each accompanied by self-directed short films. The visuals for the new songs and EP artwork follow a similar grainy, early-2000s aesthetic.
Brazil - who was in a DIY rap trio called Nokia Mansion befgore going solo - was recently shouted out by Lola Young in her Rolling Stone interview, and has upcoming London dates later this month.
