Redolent return with new single "ok wow" and release self-produced documentary
Edinburgh electronic-indie outfit Redolent have released their new song, "ok wow", and unveiled a new documentary about the band's journey.
"ok wow" is Redolent's first release since their 2024 debut album dinny greet, which saw them land the Scottish Album of the Year award. Speaking about the track, singer Robin Herbert says: "'ok wow' is about going too far in a scrap with someone and being sat alone in silence with your wrongness in the aftermath".
Redolent have also dropped a feature-length documentary charting their journey, from the time that they formed in 2012, up to finding financial success through the GameStop short squeeze in 2021, signing to Columbia Records, and then ultimately separating from the label. In their words, it's "the strange story of how we signed to the biggest record label in the world, got dropped, and then won Scottish Album of the Year with our debut album dinny greet". The film was written, shot, directed, edited and soundtracked by the band themselves, alongside producer George Cuthbert, with animation by Joe Langsworthy.
