Later this year, a 4K restoration of End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones will hit cinemas and be available digitally, thanks to Magnolia Pictures. The documentary film traces the Ramones’ career from their beginnings in mid-70s Queens to the deaths of Joey and Dee Dee.

Directed by Michael Gramaglia and Jim Fields, the documentary has been restored from original materials, with Magnolia confirming it will be available to rent and own digitally for the first time. Specific theatrical and digital dates have not yet been announced.

The film delves into the relentless touring schedule that kept the band going for more than two decades. It also covers the group’s acrimonious split and the later deaths of Joey and Dee Dee Ramone.

The restoration also marks the 50th anniversary of the Ramones’ self-titled debut album. A one-off tribute is set for 30 August at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, where Rancid's Tim Armstrong, Billie Joe Armstrong (no relation), Travis Barker of blink-182, and CJ Ramone (who replaced original bassist Dee Dee) will perform Ramones material as "Cretin Family," the title of a track from the Ramones' fourteenth and final studio album.
