PROJECTOR unveil new single, "DUBIOUS GOALS COMMITTEE"
Following the announcement of their debut album, NOW WHEN WE TALK IT’S VIOLENCE, Brighton's PROJECTOR have dropped the brand new single, "DUBIOUS GOALS COMMITTEE".
The track is accompanied by a video which piles together home footage from PROJECTOR’s biggest year yet, touring across Europe as well as footage of them in and out of studios.
Bassist and singer Lucy says “I always wanted to put something like this together, partly so I can delete the footage off my hardrive, but also because the show or recording is about 1% of the lived experience of being in a band. There are hundreds of pointless ‘in-between’ hours traveling, waiting for someone to finish their takes, finding food after soundcheck. It’s f**king boring being in a band sometimes. But in some ways the in-between time is my favourite part, like when you’re crying with laughter in a German service station at 2AM.”
The band decided to record and produce the album themselves at Lone Star Studio London, with drummer Callum Marinho taking the lead with long-term production and live collaborator Ben Hampson.
Lucy says: “I’m quite proud of our album for being as obtuse, emotionally erratic and irritable as we are. I think we’re all grumpy about the industry, how music’s becoming homogenised ‘cus the industry won’t invest in anything that isn’t completely immediate (which I think is patronising to music fans). I’m glad we stuck to our guns and took an inordinate amount of time to make a strange, emotionally complex, multifaceted piece of work. I think that’s a better reflection of who people really are today anyway.”
The band set off on their album tour in the UK through February and March, and newly added dates in Europe through April, including shows in Nottingham, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Paris, Berlin, and Hamburg.
NOW WHEN WE TALK IT’S VIOLENCE is set for release on 9th February via Marshall Recordings, and is available to pre-order now.
