New Year's Eve Gig Guide

31 December 2013, 15:16 | Written by The Line of Best Fit

Welcome to our weekly round-up of shows happening in the grand concert halls, dimly lit basements, airy cafe’s and grimy sweatboxes across the UK and Ireland. This week’s edition is a New Years Eve special and travels a little further afield than our shores too, picking up nights in Paris, Boston and New York too. All acts featured come with the Best Fit ‘Seal Of Approval’ so you can be assured that your hard earned cash will be well spent. Happy New Years Eve folks! See you, bleary eyed, in 2014!

Deadmau5 NYE @ Nassau Coliseum, Long Island (NY)

We can’t imagine anyone counts down to the New Years quite like Canadian progressive house master Deadmau5. Forget your fancy heels, you’ll only ruin them on the all night dance floor.

Tickets are available now. Check out more Deadmau5 shows.

Moonface @ Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin

Feel like you should see in 2014 with some reverence, reflection and incredible music. Get yourself along to Christ Church Cathedral’s Gala Concert this New Years Eve.

Tickets are available now. Check out more Moonface shows.

Wolf Alice @ Koko, London

Twisting stair cases, pretension free club dance floors filled to the brim with thrashing limbs and incredible indie anthems your idea of a good night? Well there are still tickets to see Wolf Alice at Koko in Camden.

Tickets are available now. Check out more Wolf Alice shows.

Gilles Peterson @ La Bellevilliose, Paris

If your the other side of the Channel Tunnel we recommend you put your night in the hands of Gilles Peterson, he won’t steer you wrong.

Tickets are available now. Check out more Gilles Peterson shows.

Disclosure @ Detour NYE, O2 Academy, Sheffield

Three rooms of incredible music, including a DJ set from Disclosure between 1:15am and 2:30am, if you want to dance your way into 2014, this is the place to head.

Tickets are available now. Check out more Disclosure shows.

Patti Smith @ Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Boston

Priority seating is sold out but if you get in there early you still have a chance of spending your night with one of the most incredible performers alive today.

Tickets are available now. Check out more Patti Smith shows.

Mykki Blanco & Friends @ Gramercy Theatre, New York City

Gearing up for the release of her debut album Michael, alongside the Cosmic Angel II: Let Big Sister Teach You mixtape, Mykki Blanco has some pretty big plans for next year but before all that, she’ll be seeing in 2014 in style with friends DJ Rashad, Ian Isiah and loads more. You can’t be sure of many things in life, but we’re pretty sure Mykki Blanco knows how to throw a party.

Tickets are available now. Check out more Mykki Blanco shows.

Pet Shop Boys @ Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh

This being last on our list has nothing to with quality because let’s face it, seeing in the New Years with Pet Shop Boys will be incredible, but because access to the Princes Street Gardens is actually now sold out. BUT tickets for the street party in Edinburgh are still on sale and you can generally get pretty close to the music anyway, even if you can’t see them play, it’ll invade your senses on this cold night like so much split beer!

Tickets for the Street Party are available now. Check out more Pet Shop Boys shows.
