Pixey unveils "Daisy Chain" featuring Tayo Sound
Pixey returns with her first release since the 2022 mini-album, Dreams, Pains & Paper Planes.
"Daisy Chain" received its worldwide radio premiere on Clara Amfo’s Future Sounds show on BBC Radio 1 last night.
The summer anthem is inspired by ‘90s-style breakbeat samples (namely Canadian band Len’s ubiquitous "Steal My Sunshine"), as Pixey explains: ""Daisy Chain" is a sun-soaked song written for the summertime. I’ve always wanted to pay homage to Len’s beloved "Steal My Sunshine", so I decided to breathe some new life into the nostalgic sample by recreating and reinventing it. This is a sample that got me into production in the first place so it was an honour to recreate it. "Daisy Chain" is everything that represents my project - samples, breaks and nostalgia, but importantly; the sunshine.”
She continues: “I’m psyched that Tayo agreed to feature on the track. He has such a cool, laid back vibe that perfectly suits the song. It’s the first time I’ve had another artist feature on a song and he smashed it.”
Tayo adds: “Pixey sent me a perfect song and blessed me with the opportunity to add something to it. I think it perfectly captures the feeling of a summer obsession whether that’s a person / place / thing and how those obsessions can be equally as fun as they are frustrating.”
"Daisy Chain" featuring Tayo Sound is out now via Chess Club Records.
