PinkPantheress, A. K. Paul, and Fousheé to feature on upcoming Kelela album, new avatar

"linknb", produced by Oscar Scheller, follows Kelela's lead single, "idea 1", released last month. The track is about gaining confidence through difficulty, emerging from a period of writer's block for the artist, and is accompanied by a video directed by Mischa Notcutt.

new avatar is regarded as the product of what Kelela has been building towards with her previous albums, expanding from the indie scene, through club music and electronic production. new avatar combines R&B and dance music, and features collaborations with PinkPantheress, A. K. Paul and Fousheé.

Speaking about the intention behind the album, Kelela says: "I don't want the music to be a distraction from what's really going on in the world; I want it to make sense in this crazy moment while helping people get in touch with the beauty and joy they’re also experiencing.

“People also need to know that my friends and I are laughing constantly and that humor isn’t a defense mechanism; it’s an expression of how sharp our read is and how clearly we see the world.”
