Phoebe Green announces second album Premature Nostalgia with lead single “There’s Always Someone Kicking The Seat”
Manchester’s Phoebe Green has confirmed her second LP Premature Nostalgia, due 2 October via The Green Dream Machine / Absolute, and has shared the lead single “There’s Always Someone Kicking The Seat” today.
The record was written and produced alongside her sister Lucy Green, a producer who goes by Elucyve, working between the flat they share in Manchester and their parents’ home in Lytham St Annes. Speaking about the album’s thematic core, Phoebe explains: “The album mostly explores my tendency to be extremely sentimental and attach value to every little thing – feeling nostalgic before a moment is even over and trying to control the grieving process by going through the motions prematurely in order to prepare myself.”
The sisters draw from a broad palette of influences including Imogen Heap, Oklou, Jockstrap, James Blake, FKA twigs, and Sega Bodega, embracing warped electronics, fragmented structures, and experimental approaches to pop songwriting.
Of the new track, Phoebe says: “We wanted this song to feel extremely visceral, as though the listener is experiencing the story firsthand. It’s maybe my only proper break-up song, and Lucy really beautifully encapsulated the chaotic emotional journey sonically. It felt really fitting for the verses to feel quite matter of fact, recounting events, then melancholic choruses followed by a cathartic outro.”
Premature Nostalgia also features a collaboration with Picture Parlour’s Katherine Parlour and incorporates field recordings and metallic textures pulled from Manchester’s industrial landscape and club culture. Described as a darker, more enigmatic companion to her 2025 EP The Container and her debut Lucky Me, the record remains rooted in the creative partnership between the two sisters, who navigate the realities of an independent music career together.
The new collection of songs arrives after a decade in which Green has become a distinctive voice in UK alternative pop, with recent soundtrack work including the 2026 film Finding Emily.
