Perrie unveils new single, "You Go Your Way" in collaboration with Joy Anonymous
Little Mix's Perrie has unveiled her latest solo single, "You Go Your Way".
The track was originally produced and released as an underground club single by London based dance duo Joy Anonymous, who played the song to Perrie in a writing session.
The song tells the story of a time at the start of Perrie’s relationship with boyfriend Alex, when they were in the honeymoon stage and not yet ‘official’. Due to go away on tour in the US for several months, and worried about putting pressure on a very new relationship, Perrie suggested to her now fiancé that they should pause their budding romance and go their separate ways. The song sums up the moment in a relationship where you need to be prepared to let someone go and live their life in the hope that the will one day return.
"I told Alex, you go your way and I’ll go mine and if it’s meant to be we’ll find each other again when I am back," Perrie explains. "He wasn't happy this idea and made our relationship official there and then! Fast forward 8 years and we are very happy, engaged and have our beautiful son. I truly believe if you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours. If not it was never meant to be.”
"You Go Your Way" is out now.
