Parts & Labor detail first new album in fifteen years, Set Of All Sets

Set Of All Sets is Parts & Labor's first full-length work since 2011's Constant Future; a double album which sees co-founders Dan Friel and BJ Warshaw joined by drummers Christopher Weingarten and Joe Wong. New single "Seamripper" arrives today following a string of previous singles, with the band describing it as a futuristic mix of Melvins, HEALTH and Nine Inch Nails.

“'Seamripper' is probably Parts & Labor's heaviest song," says Friel. "With two drummers, and Chris Weingarten back in the band, I was excited to do something inspired by the Melvins/Big Business albums, but the sludgy dungeon synth riff became something else entirely. I don't think it sounds much like anything else we've done, and I like to think it doesn't sound much like anyone else either.”

The new work marks an end to the band's "indefinite hiatus", and sees them expanding on their sound as they draw from Tanzanian singeli, free improv, and krautrock. Discussing the motivation behind the album and the band's reunion, Warshaw explains, "It felt like all the things we were worried about back in the day – techno-fascism, authoritarianism, rapacious capitalism, societal division – were coming true if not getting worse. Reuniting has been a lifeline. The doing is the antidote."

In support of the album, Parts & Labor are also set to play a run of summer shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York with an expanded six-piece lineup.
