Oracle Sisters unveil Caliban and the Witch-inspired track, "Blue Left Hand"
Oracle Sisters have released “Blue Left Hand”, as the third single to be taken from their forthcoming second studio album, Divinations.
Inspired by the book Caliban and the Witch, it weaves together a lyrical tapestry of history, philosophy and cultural critique. The song is written from the perspective of a citizen of a country who slowly unravels his ego and place in the world. He begins with claims to what he owns and thinks he possesses but the cracks start to appear and he finds himself preaching in a stream of consciousness that takes him through history from the admiration of statues to the witch trials of the Middle Ages.
The new track is accompanied by an irreverent video directed by Jim Longden, who elaborates: “We had a Priest with a gun fetish, a Nun who showers using money, a Drag Queen who spends the daytime running a formal business, two innocent ballet dancers, one of the set design team playing a Jester, while a disco dancer has an identity crisis of whether he is in the band or not. So, all in all, it was a fascinating day on the set of Blue Left Hand.”
Divinations is due for release on 14 February via Wizard Artists, the band’s own imprint, and is available to pre-order now.
