Omni's Philip Frobos announces solo album Taste for the Unsavory

26 October 2026, 15:25 | Written by Hayden Merrick

Philip Frobos, vocalist and bassist of the Atlanta-based, Sub Pop-signed band Omni, has announced his second solo album, Taste for the Unsavory, due on 29 January 2027. Lead single “The Handoff”, featuring Gustaf’s Lydia Gammill, is out now.

The album follows Frobos’s 2021 solo debut LP Vague Enough to Satisfy, a soundtrack to his debut novel of the same name. Taste for the Unsavory was co-produced by Rodrigo Avendaño (Soccer Mommy) and expands on the post-punk soundscapes of its predecessor. Frobos described “The Handoff” as “a pulp noir tale… told in a Madchester meets Athens, GA style.”

Besides Gammill, the singer of Brooklyn art punks Gustaf, the record features Mastodon’s Bill Kelliher on “Fulton County Stadium at 8:05 AM” and Preoccupations’ Matthew Flegel on “Nautical Knots”, with artwork by Omni bandmate Frankie Broyles. A cocktail zine of original drinks and pastel drawings by Emily Frobos accompanies the LP.

Omni's most recent album was 2024's critically acclaimed Souvenir.
