Olivia Rodrigo releases new single "the cure" from her third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love
Olivia Rodrigo has shared a new song, “the cure”, and music video after confirming details of her third studio LP, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, due 12 June via Geffen Records.
The track arrives with an official music video directed by Cat Solen and Jaime Gerin. Shot in a handmade cardboard hospital, the clip finds Rodrigo moving through cold, sterile hallways in a search for the antidote to a broken heart. The video was produced by Lana Kim, Jett Steiger, and Brandon Robinson via Ways & Means.
Last month, Rodrigo released the album’s first single, “drop dead”, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. That achievement made her the first artist to have the first three singles from each of their first three albums enter the chart at the top spot.
Rodrigo has also announced The Unraveled Tour, which begins in September. The run quickly sold over one million tickets globally, with added dates following demand. In Brooklyn, the tour expanded from four announced shows to a 10‑night residency at Barclays Center. Rodrigo also set a venue performance record at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome, also playing 10 dates there. At London’s O2, she is scheduled to perform 11 nights, joining an elite group of acts including Prince, the Spice Girls, One Direction, Ariana Grande, Elton John and Rihanna who have reached double-digit residencies at the venue.
Rodrigo’s second album, GUTS, was described by Rolling Stone as “an instant classic” upon its release. Her debut, SOUR, spent a full year in the Billboard 200’s top 10 – the longest-running debut album in that chart’s top tier this century.
