Ólafur Arnalds and late Irish musician Talos collaborate on "We Didn’t Know We Were Ready"
Ólafur Arnalds has released the track, "We Didn’t Know We Were Ready" in collaboration with the late Irish musician Talos (Eoin French).
The song marked the beginning of a collaboration between the two artists and was co-written alongside Niamh Regan and Ye Vagabonds at Sounds from a Safe Harbor festival & artist residency in 2023. Following Talos’ untimely passing in August 2024, the track has now taken on meanings the collaborators could never have imagined back when they wrote it.
The track features Talos’lead vocals alongside contributions from his friends, family and collaborators: Sandrayati, The Staves, JFDR, Memorial, Christof van der Ven, Laoise Leahy, Niamh Regan, Ye Vagabonds, MylesO’ Reilly, Ross Dowling, Eoin’s wife Steph French and Icelandic orchestra, Sinfonia Nord.
Yesterday, Ólafur Arnalds and a close circle of friends and collaborators including Dermot Kennedy, The Staves, cellist Kate Ellis and many more paid tribute to Talos with a heartfelt live performance of the track, closing out the Tommy Tiernan Show on RTÉ.
